[Ivy Harper writing here: Has there EVER been a more bizarre, banal opening to an ostensibly elevated “List” of Lincoln professionals? Hmmm, I’m thinkin’ no. I’m really glad the LJS settled that critical point at the outset as that is – no doubt – the first question on any potential Lincoln’s20Under40 “winner’s” mind: “Do we have to purchase something…cuz if we do, man, we’re outta this competition. And fast (more sarcasm).

Nominee must be between the ages of 21 and 39 on or before July 1, 2013. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

To nominate, visit lincolns20under40.com and complete the nomination form. Nominees will be judged on their ability to meet the following characteristics:

•Potential to impact community’s future
•Successful in their chosen field
•Make a significant contribution to their company or employer
•Character, involvement and achievement are consistent themes in their lives
•Committed to professional excellence and the community
•Involved in community activities
•Innovative

Requirements
•Must be between 21 and 39 as of July 1, 2013
•Must represent characteristics of leaders (see above)

Voting will occur in the following method: Initial nominations will be narrowed by a internal panel of Lincoln Journal Star employees to 50.
The group of 50 will be judged by an outside panel of Lincoln’s top professionals to determine the top 20, with 5 alternates.
Judging will be based on the following:
•Career achievement to-date (20)
•Leadership within company and/or industry (20)
•Involvement in community activities (20)
•Leadership in community organizations (20)
•Potential impact to our community’s future (20)
Top nominees will be notified by email. If a nominee is unreachable after three (3) days, or if that nominee is unwilling or unavailable for recognition fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected.

Lincoln Journal Star reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate’s’ office.

Results will be posted both online and in print Sunday, June 9, 2013. No results will be posted until nominees respond to e-mail notification.

Odds of recognition depend on the number of eligible nominations received.

Employees of Lincoln Journal Star, its respective parent company, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible to nominate nor be a nominee in this contest. Immediate family member are eligible if nominated by an outside party.

Those nominating and nominees agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the Lincoln Journal Star, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

Those nominating and nominees further grant to Lincoln Journal Star the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the contest. Nominees will be notified to accept or decline participation.

Once nomination is accepted, Lincoln Journal Star reserves the right to use any and all information related to the contest, including information on those nominating or nominees obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
